Dr Michael Chu

General Surgeon

 

Dr. Michael Chu is an experienced general surgeon with subspecialisation training in liver, pancreas, bile duct and gallbladder surgery. He is the only surgeon in New Zealand that has completed formal post-Fellowship subspecialisation training in both liver/pancreas/biliary surgery and kidney transplant surgery.

Michael obtained his qualification in General Surgery (FRACS) before embarking on further sub-specialisation training in HPB (liver, pancreas, bile duct surgery) and Kidney Transplant Surgery at Auckland City Hospital and Westmead Hospital (Sydney).

Throughout his training, Michael acquired proficiency in a range of surgical techniques, including open and minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery. The surgical approach will be tailored to provide the best outcome for his patient’s specific needs.

His commitment is to deliver compassionate, holistic and quality patient-centred surgical care to his patients, especially in the management of upper gastrointestinal tract cancers.
