Dr Alfred Hoi Kay Kwan is a Consultant Geriatrician at Middlemore Hospital. 

Originally from Hong Kong, he moved to New Zealand in 1992 and speaks fluent Cantonese, Mandarin and English.

Dr Alfred Kwan obtained his medical degree from the University of Otago and completed dual specialist training in Geriatric Medicine and Internal Medicine in the Auckland region and Melbourne, Australia.

He has broad expertise in General Geriatrics, with particular clinical interests in cognition and dementia. Dr Alfred Kwan works closely with the Memory Team at Middlemore Hospital and has been invited to deliver community talks to raise awareness of cognitive health. He also has experience in orthogeriatrics, as well as the assessment and management of falls and osteoporosis.

Known for his warm, patient-centred approach, Dr Alfred Kwan values taking time to listen, explain, and support patients and their families through complex health decisions.
