Dr Shalini Kunasegaran

Endocrinologist, Diabetologist & General Physician

 

Dr Shalini Kunasegaran is a specialist Endocrinologist and Diabetologist with expertise in the management of endocrine and metabolic conditions. She currently works as a consultant in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Internal Medicine at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals.

Dr Kunasegaran graduated with Commendation from the University of Liverpool, School of Medicine and completed her foundation training at the St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, in the United Kingdom. After relocating to New Zealand in 2011, she undertook advanced physician training in the Auckland region and gained dual specialist qualifications in Endocrinology & Diabetes and Internal Medicine. In 2020, she was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Kunasegaran is actively involved in medical education and professional leadership. She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland and serves on the Senior Medical Advisory Committee at Waitemata. She has contributed to the selection and mentoring of trainees through her previous role in the Auckland Regional Endocrinology Training selection Panel.
